How to Join SHCC

 

Spring Hill Church of Christ is a non-denominational congregation identified with a group of independent churches of Christ and Christian churches throughout the world. We seek to bring glory to God by adhering to the principles set forth in the pages of God’s Word. Our requirements for membership are identical to those of the church as described in the New Testament:

  1. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 16:16). To believe in the   Lord Jesus Christ is to believe that He is the Son of God, that He died for our sins and that He rose from the grave. This is the Good News as set forth in the Bible (1 Corinthians 15: 1-3).
  2. Repent (Acts 17:30, Luke 13:3, 5). To repent is to turn from sin to righteousness; from self to Jesus. It is to change one’s mind and live wholly to please God!
  3. Confess Christ (Matthew 10: 32, 33). To confess is to let others know that you believe Jesus is the Son of God!
  4. Be Baptized into Christ (Acts 2: 38). To be baptized is to identify yourself with the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus. The Scripture makes clear that baptism is “for the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.” We practice the form of baptism by which Jesus Himself was baptized: immersion.
  5. Live Faithfully for Christ (I Corinthians 15:58, Acts 2: 42). Following our baptism into Christ, our gratitude for salvation will lead us to a faithful life of worship, prayer, study, giving, telling others of Christ, and serving in His church.

 

THE INVITATION: At the close of each service, we sing what is commonly called an “invitation hymn.” Those who wish to identify themselves with this congregation are asked to come forward. There you will be greeted by our minister. You will not be embarrassed in any way and will not be asked to say anything except to repeat a few simple words affirming your belief in Jesus. If you are already an immersed believer in Christ, the minister will, on behalf of the whole congregation, welcome you as a member of the Spring Hill Church.

 

YOUR BAPTISM: If you have not been baptized, someone will be ready to escort you to a changing room, and assist you in preparing for your baptism. Clothing is supplied for your baptism. No previous notice is necessary. We will schedule your baptism at any time you desire.

THE LORD’S SUPPER: We serve Communion each Lord’s Day as was done in the early church (Acts 20:7). The bread and juice are memorials of the body and the blood of Jesus. We invite every Christian to join us in this observance.
